Our worldwide search for the next generation of climate tech leaders

GTA Global Stars is our latest initiative as an associated organisation of Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour.

As the Tour comes to a close this year, GTA is launching a worldwide search to spotlight young founders building real, scalable solutions for energy transition and a sustainable future.

These innovators – our Global Stars – will be nominated by GTA’s global network of geographical and working groups, and showcased on our Tech for Net Zero Resource Hub.

Each featured Global Star will have a dedicated profile sharing their mission, their progress, and what support they need to accelerate their impact—whether that’s funding, partnerships, mentorship, or exposure.

Who are the Global Stars?

  • Under 35 years old
  • Seed to Series A founders leading active, operational ventures
  • Developing or building a product, pilot, or service advancing the global energy transition

Essential Criteria

Age: Nominees must be under 35 at the time of nomination

Founder role: Must be a founder or co-founder of a startup or initiative actively working on an energy transition solution

Stage: Open to companies at Seed, Series A

Active status: The business must be operational with a product, pilot, or service in development or deployment. Closed a round with at least 6-12 months runway remaining and/or revenue. Must be VC backed.

Focus: The solution must directly address energy transition, with examples including:

  • Clean energy generation: solar and agrisolar, wind, geothermal, tidal, hydro, bioenergy
  • Energy storage: batteries and battery management systems, thermal, hydrogen, or other long-duration storage
  • Grid innovation: smart grids, grid decentralisation, virtual power plants, grid resilience
  • Energy access: off-grid tech, mini-grids, rural electrification, inclusive energy solutions
  • Demand management: energy efficiency, optimisation, smart appliances, behavioural tech, trading
  • Green mobility: EVs, electric transport systems, electric transport systems, battery swapping, low-carbon logistics
  • Hydrogen economy: green hydrogen production, infrastructure, applications
  • Industrial decarbonisation: clean heat, electrification, carbon capture for energy-intensive sectors
  • Circular systems: tech that supports the circularity of energy systems or infrastructure
  • Climate financing platforms: tools that enable investment into energy transition solutions, especially in underserved regions

Selection Considerations

  • Innovation: Originality and strength of the tech or approach
  • Impact: Potential for emissions reduction or system-level transformation
  • Scalability: Market fit, ambition, and potential to scale across geographies
  • Traction: Evidence of pilots, customers, investment, or partnerships
  • Visionary leadership: The founder’s clarity of mission, resilience, and leadership capacity
  • Equity & inclusion: Chapters are encouraged to nominate founders who reflect the diversity of their region, especially those creating solutions that benefit underrepresented communities or populations most affected by the energy transition
  • Support ask: Clear articulation of what support is most needed (funding, mentorship, partnerships, etc.)

Ineligible

  • Founders not active in energy transition or related climate tech sectors
  • Projects still in concept stage with no operational development
  • Individuals not in a founding or leadership role of the initiative
