Carolina Fernandez

Carolina Fernández is an experienced economist with over 20 years of expertise in investment, internationalization, public policy, global economic relations, and international negotiations. She has been serving as the Head of Investment for the Southern Cone (Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay) at the UK’s Department for Business and Trade, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for the past 7 years. In this role, she promotes the UK as a key destination for inward investment and provides strategic support to Latin American companies seeking to expand into the UK market.
She has worked advising numerous of tech startups, scaleups and unicorns in their internationalization strategy and was Managing partner for Aptugo, a deeptech startup pioneer in the use of AI for software development.
Before her current role, Carolina served as the National Director of Investments at the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she had an executive role in shaping Argentina’s investment policies. She was also part of the Argentine negotiating team at the G20 for over four years and held the position of Chief Adviser at the Argentine Embassy in the United States. Additionally, she worked as a speechwriter for James D. Wolfensohn, former President of the World Bank.
Carolina holds a degree in Economics from the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Maryland. She is also a Fulbright Scholar.
